A Chinese diving instructor drowned Tuesday afternoon in Sitio Panagsama, Barangay Basdiot, Moalboal, Cebu.
Xiaoguang Yang, 53, who was temporarily staying at Kiss Dive and Shop, was found dead by the diving school staff 38 meters below the sea.
Police Officer 1 Niño Ridaza said the foreigner was working as instructor at Kiss Dive and Shop. He was last seen by his coworkers Tuesday morning fixing his diving gears.
Yang went on diving alone despite the school policy that prohibits it for safety reason.
“Niburot na gyud ni siya pagkuha,” said Ridaza.
Ridaza said they found medicine for hypertension in the victim’s personal belongings. His computerized diving watch indicated that he had gone as far as 101 meters deep.
“Mura’g plano gyud sa biktima nga mo-dive og lawom kay duha man gyud ka tangke ang gidala. Ang usa naubos gyud ang sud, ang usa kay walay iban,” said Ridaza.
The doctor declared that the victim died of asphyxia through drowning.
